MMDB Community Update
We hope you have started the new year well! 🎉 At the beginning of the year, we would like to share some important tips on how to optimally prepare your artist profile in the MMDB – for better visibility, better matches, and better opportunities.
Why is a well-maintained profile so important?
The MMDB thrives on musicians finding each other. For this to work, the system requires structured information – not just free text.
Currently, we often see:
- Skills, instruments, or genres are only in the description text
- The designated keyword fields (tag boxes) remain empty
- Profiles contain very few details
This is unfortunate – because these structured fields are the basis for search, filter, and matching.
How to optimally use your profile
Please pay particular attention to the following points:
- Skills, instruments, and genres should always be entered into the designated keyword fields (tag boxes) – not just in the free text
- Upload a profile picture – profiles with images are clicked significantly more often
- Fill out the description thoughtfully: Who are you? What do you do? What are you looking for?
- Complete other fields such as services, collaboration interests, or availability if they apply
Important to know
The automated features of the MMDB – e.g. the band member search and matching suggestions – work exclusively through the keyword fields. Content that is only in the free text cannot be considered in this process.
Upcoming features in the area of booking and opportunities will also be based on these structured entries.
In short: The more complete and structured your profile is, the better you will be found – and the better you will find others.
Here’s to a musical, connected, and successful new year! Alex & Ryan
