Munich Musicians Database

MMDB Community Update

We have launched a new feature for you that helps you navigate the MMDB more quickly and search more effectively: the Heatmap.

What does the Heatmap show?

The Heatmap shows how many musician or band/project profiles use certain terms – for example, genres, instruments, skills, or categories.

The larger a term is displayed, the more profiles exist in the MMDB that correspond to that term.

Which areas can you analyze?

  • Artists: Genres, instruments, skills, and services from artist profiles
  • Bands/Projects: Genres and categories from band and project profiles

How is it filtered?

You can also specify which profiles are counted, for example:

  • only bookable musicians or bands
  • only profiles with an interest in collaborations
  • for Bands/Projects: only those looking for members

The Heatmap adapts immediately and only shows terms from exactly those profiles.

What happens when clicking on a term?

Clicking on a term takes you directly to the results list with all the matching musician or band profiles that correspond to that term.

Why is this useful?

  • You can find musicians with a specific genre or skill more quickly.
  • You discover bands or projects that exactly match your musical style.
  • You can easily see what is strongly represented in the community – and what is rarer.

In short: The Heatmap shows you how frequently certain musical terms actually occur in the MMDB – and takes you directly to the matching profiles with one click.

Have fun exploring!
